Drew Brees and Sean PaytonAs I watched Drew Brees and Sean Payton celebrating the Saints victory over Peyton Manning’s Indianapolis Colts, it brought back many memories of the early days–the beginning of the Saints. As a lifetime 49er fan, I was spending my days employed by the City of San Francisco at Log Cabin Ranch, a juvenile detention facility for felony offenders located on a former 634 acre ranch in the town of La Honda, made famous by the antics of Ken Kesey and his Merry Pranksters.During the offseason, several Niners would put in time as counselors. One was Johnny Fuller, a tough defensive back and kick returner from Lamar, Texas.John and I became good friends and when he was traded to the Saints, he asked me to drive his wife’s station wagon from California to New Orleans. In exchange, I had the opportunity to visit the team at their training camp south of New Orleans and to attend the first ever game played at the Superdome, an exhibition game against Bum Phillips, Earl Campbell and the Houston Oilers (now the Tennessee Titans). It was the experience of a lifetime and the French Quarter will always have a special place in my heart. That, however, brings us to this century. There was a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico in August of 2005.It caused huge damage in Mississippi but very MODEST damage in New Orleans. What catastrophically damaged New Orleans was flooding caused by the failure of the federal levee system, an engineering failure second in scope only to Chernobyl. While people were drowning and stranded roofs for days, the federal government with the help of the US news media went overtime not helping, but covering its tracks. The whole sordid story–and why every part of America should know the real story–is because there are federal levees EVERYWHERE. He’s got great in ring skills, has plenty of charisma and is excellent on the mic, in my opinion one of the best talkers of all time.He has done it all in wrestling. In order to impress the guy, the girl is usually seen yelling and screaming despite not really knowing what is going on unless they grew up as an occasionalist that would ask their father questions as a teen. There are lots of options for the Cavs and what player doesn’t want to play with LeBron?Last year, the Cavs thought they had enough to win a championship with the team they had and we all know how that worked out. When you go to your US sports games, just think of those fans who might see their team relegated and weep a little tear for them It’s the least you can do. Sure, there may have been a couple he would have liked back, but I think Jose Theodore was saying the same thing.
Fryar was originally drafted by the Patriots, and it could be said he was a key in turning the franchise around. At Nebraska, though, he was a legend. For that I find other places. At one point I had lost the motivation. And we must give credit were it’s due, he did make a key bucket during the final minutes of regulation when both KU and K-State were frantically trading baskets. So, can I make a diagnosis, assuming there is anything to be diagnosed?First, the main source of X’s problems lies in the speed of the game brought on by the Big 12 season. Not unlike his high school games, where he could essentially dictate the pace with his skill and athletic ability, most of Kansas’ non-conference games allowed him to get open for shots that he struggles to find in conference play. Likewise, he is struggling to get his own shot, which he didn’t struggle much to do during non-conference games.Another noticeable problem for Xavier is that he doesn’t really have a right hand. It’s more of a get-to-know-you meeting for Tebow’s benefit, Smith said. Chances of a trade: Somewhat LikelyAmare Stoudemire appears to be on borrowed time in Phoenix. ?They were always more inspiring to each other than competitive.?In high school, Abby was Hidden Valley High School?s star player. Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis fueled a comeback win against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night in which the Golden State Warriors erased an 18 point deficit to clinch the game in the final minutes. The guards combined for 58 points and Curry also added nine rebounds in a dazzling shooting display which saw him go 13-18 from the field and play with the composure of a seasoned veteran. The win doesn’t do much for the Warriors in the standings but it does beg to question where the duo of Curry and Ellis rank among the top guard combos in the NBA.If excitement alone were the barometer then the top spot would go the Warriors’ duo hands down, because there is probably not a combination in the league which illicits the thrills that Curry and Ellis do.In terms of production, Curry and Ellis average a combind 40 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds which puts them near the top of the league for point guard, shooting guard duos.Houston’s Aaron Brooks and Kevin Martin are another guard combination which could match Curry and Ellis in terms of points with a combined total of 38, but they trail in the areas of rebounds and assists.Boston’s Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen average less combined points than Curry and Ellis, but equal them in rebounds, and hold a slight edge in the assists category due to Rondo’s 9.7 assists per game average. There were questions about the ability of two 6′3″ guards to coexist in the same space together, and some of those arguments are merited but have proved to be inconsequential on the strength of the duo’s play. The fact the Warriors are currently one of the worst teams in the league and despite the stellar play of Curry and Ellis, it hasn’t carried over to progress in the victory category, but the blame is not theirs alone.Golden State has fundamental flaws which rip to the core of the team, but Curry and Ellis are definite bright spots on a franchise that is suffering through a challenging time highlighted by turmoil.Until there is help in the paint, a willingness to commit to the defensive end, and an ability to devise an intelligent offensive scheme, all the rainbow jumpers from Curry and all the pull-up jumpers in traffic from Ellis won’t save the Warriors. They may be the epitome of dysfunction, but their young talented duo gives fans a reason to watch the games, and on some occasions their faith is rewarded by spectacular efforts, like the one on Sunday night. The Atlanta Hawks are true contenders but on this night they had no answer for Curry or Ellis, and that can pretty much be said for most opponents during the last couple of months. They may not get the recognition of a top tandem due to the poor performance of their team, but Curry and Ellis sure do keep it interesting even when they are losing, and sometimes they give their fans a delightful surprise..
And nobody wants this Premier League trophy more than ArseneWenger or Cesc Fabregas. Let us hope.P.S Don’t forget to comment, and to vote on the poll.. This is, of course, understandable. He was gone from wrestling, and the WWF was just fine without him. On Peyton Manning: Payton: “He’s a tremendous player and we have a lot of repect for his accomplishments. There was no doubt in anyone?s mind what she was thinking and how she was feeling. John?s ranks 146th in offensive efficiency , so if the Panthers decide to defend like the Panthers of old then the Red Storm might be in for a long night. If Pitt can take care of business and beat the teams they are supposed to beat then they will not only make their ninth consecutive NCAA tournament, they will have a good seed come Selection Sunday.
